Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: To perform skilled welding operations in the fabrication of Chassis manufacture and other various subassemblies.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:

Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, callipers, and ruler

Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment

Cut work-piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.

Visually inspect welds to determine compliance with standards.

Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, calliper, and precision measuring instruments

Removes rough spots from work-piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
-
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

Heat, form, and dress metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.

Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.

Analyse engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.

Work at heights

Clean equipment using appropriate materials

Operate overhead mechanical lifting systems

Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation

Measure distance using a tape measure or other measuring device
-
Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others

Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
Criteria

Minimum 2 years experience in similar role

Must be able to read and interpret auto-cad drawings

Experience in chassis manufacturing or a similar industry

Holds a valid forklift license
-
Certificate for overhead crane lifting

Basic machinery maintenance
-
Ability to work flexible hours to meet deadlines
